Pictures of David Bowie doing normal stuff

Happy Birthday to my number one musical influence, the Thin White Duke, DAVID BOWIE!!!!

I’m sure you have seen this video since it popped up on the interweb & blogs yesterday. Just a random happenstance on the NYC subway system….and a very beautiful happenstance which makes you forget about all the grime, crime and in-your-face shit that us New Yorker’s deal with everyday.

I did a little research and found the singer’s blog (I mean, who doesn’t have a blog these days) where she writes about this experience.

Enjoy!

Darryl Hall & Chromeo jamming at Darryl’s house, one of the episodes from Darryl Hall’s “Live at Darryl’s House” online web show. I am totally impressed that he has this web show, and to dork out even more, how functional the platform is, the sound, everything. Darryl…invite me over man!

I watched Eddie Trunk’s interview with Axl Rose last night…had me put some GnR on rotate at 11pm at night.

Here they are at their best - 1988 at the Ritz…when Axl was hot.

CANT - Dreams Come True by Transdreamer Records

I don’t know why I’m late to this album, but in my internet perusing, I found a great interview with Chris Taylor who discussed this project…and after one listen through, I LOVE IT. Repeat.

The Drums - I Need a Doctor

Nuttin’ but love for Heavy D….RIP. I’ve spent many hours dancing to his music growing up. So sad.

There is something about the fall weather that always makes me pull out the music in my collection that has a complete and total chill vibe to it. That said, I play mostly folk and neo-soul music in the fall season. Go figure. And since today is such a beautiful, sunny fall day, I sought out one of my favorite albums from the early 2000’s to listen to: a little Remy Shand (who was the first white boy to do the whole falsetto/soul thing before Robin Thicke went ahead and made it popular)

Big up to Remy Shand, wherever he is. The one thing to come out of Canada that I actually like.

I saw these guys play last night, and I was thoroughly impressed. The crowd was dancing, I was dancing, my friends were dancing…..They are from England…the lead singer reminds me a little of Josh Homme, but is not a douche like Josh Homme….and I just love them!!!!

The Scoundrels

I’m LOVING this songwriter - Katie Moore

All is not lost

Following in the footsteps of Arcade Fire, OK Go teamed up with the dance troupe Pilolobus to come up with this amazingly creative music video. (You need Google Chrome to watch it.)
